Casino Guide for Beginners: Chips, Slot Cards and Other Things to Know
Playing in live casinos can be a lot more fun than online gambling. If you want to visit a real casino, you need to know some basic information. Here is a short guide to playing in brick n' mortar casinos. We will discuss table games, chips, betting, tipping and cashing out.77
Casino Guide: Table Games
All casino table games such as blackjack and poker have stake levels on them. That is, the minimum and/or maximum bets allowed. Some tables are high stakes, others low stakes. Before you choose a table to play in, make sure the stakes are correct. It would be very embarrassing for you to realize later that you picked a table you couldn't afford! The stakes are indicated by dollar signs (usually) on the tables so t7hey are easy to see.
As a beginner, always play the lowest stakes available for your game. Unless, of course, you are a high roller and can afford to lose the money.
Casino Guide: Buying Chips
In casino table games, you play with chips that represent your money. Just put your money in front of you on the table. Put it where it does not cover any symbols. The dealer will know it is yours. Be patient if there is a play going on. Your money will be taken and put in a safe box and you will be given chips in exchange. Chips are colored differently for convenience, with red being $5, green $25 and so on. Make sure you have at least a few $1 coins (may be black or other color) for tipping.
Casino Guide: Betting
To make a bet, you usually have to place your chips on an empty circle. Place your chips neatly inside it with the higher-value chips below the lesser ones. Do not touch the chips once you have made your bet. (They might think you're trying to cheat by taking out chips.)
Casino Guide: Tipping
It is very good practice to tip the dealers and waitresses regularly, especially the dealer. These folks don't make a lot of money (they may get only about $20 a day) and you want to build a good relationship with them. For the dealer you can either tip them directly or place a bet for them. A few dollars per hour is good. You can tip the waitresses every couple of drinks.
Casino Guide: Cashing Out
When you are ready to leave the table game, push your chips slightly forward and say "Color up." This means you want the lower-value chips changed to higher ones. After the change, you can go to the cashier's booth to cash the chips.
It would be nice if you had to color up indeed. Who doesn't want to leave the casino with lots of chips?
Playing in live casinos is fun. At first you will be very nervous, but you will get the hang of it. If you are unsure of something, ask the dealer. Pretty soon you will be quite at home. Enjoy many hours of fun and entertainment. Just remember the look at the dollar signs first!
